Kevin Small triumphs in Western

Kevin Small again produced an excellent result for Labour in Western Ward and polled 2275 votes (43.4% of the vote) despite having 3 opponents.  Speaking after the Count Kevin said:

“I’m very grateful to the voters of Western and to my campaign team for this excellent result tonight.  My colleagues Jim Grant and Des Moffatt and I will continue to work hard for everyone in the Ward and press the Council for improved services and efficiency in the way they run the  Borough.  This has been a good night for Labour in the local elections with an increase in our vote throughout Swindon, but a sad night in the Westminster elections.  With a Tory Council and two Conservative MPs Labour’s local Councillors will have to work even harder to demonstrate the Labour vision for Swindon, and help keep this town great”
