Drivers misery as Council fail to live up to promises

Labour Councillor Fay Howard has hit out at the Tory led Council over the state of many roads within Parks. Despite the Council committing themselves to improving the state of the highways within the borough, many residents now find their lives blighted by poorly managed and maintained roads.

Councillor Howard has now challenged all residents to write into the Swindon Advertiser with suggestions for the worst road in Swindon.

“There are all these potholes on the road, and just the general surface condition is not good at all. I am pretty sure that Dulverton Avenue has probably the worst road surface in Swindon.

I dont think enough is being done for the roads in our area. How can we have a canal if our roads are being ignored? It is going to put more pressure on the roads and something needs to be done.

The fact that the Council claim there is a an effective system where the response rate is hitting targets has upset many residents within Parks. Most weeks i speak to a resident whom has put in a complaint about potholes, and yet months later work is still yet to start.

The fact that this is a dangerous situation for cars, and those crossing the roads, seems to have escaped this Council. I am sure many other areas that are in need of regeneration throughout the borough have the same problem, whilst the Council Leader is happy to be in the paper with grand schemes it seems the important issues that are affecting everyday lives are forgotten.”
